About
Thảo Bùi is a visual artist based in Hà Nội, Vietnam. Working across performance, video, photography, and participatory processes, his practice is concerned with effort: what bodies do to continue, adjust, and remain present under unstable conditions. He builds situations in which bodies respond to one another, to physical forces, or to changing surroundings, often using cameras, instructions, and simple structures to set conditions without fixing their outcome.
His works unfold through prolonged encounters, repeated actions, and forms of partial participation. Rather than focusing on collapse or resolution, Bùi attends to the labor that precedes them: small adjustments, negotiations, acts of holding, and attempts to keep something going.
Bùi's works have been shown in exhibitions and programs including Feta, APD Center, Hà Nội (2025); Chèo Méo, Tòhe, Hà Nội (2025); Green, Red & Yellow: Recontextualized, APD Center, Hà Nội (2024); Remission, Manzi Art Space and The Outpost, Hà Nội (2023); and Assemblage: Me, My Story, and I, Dogma Prize, Hồ Chí Minh City (2023). He is also a member of Trung Tâm Thương Mãi, an artist collective based in Hà Nội.
